The Association
Keeping the Tradition Alive
The Traditional Social Dance of Victoria (TSDAV) was launched in September, 1980 to promote, protect and oversee our Australian dance traditions as well as to provide knowledgeable authorities for people seeking information about dancing.
The Association’s primary focus has been on our earlier traditions, that is those of Colonial dancing and its associated English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh dance traditions, but also to promote and support the many ethnic social dance traditions now active in Australia.
The TSDAV now offers:
- Dance weekend, with well known interstate and local teachers
- Social dances
- Old Time Tea Dance
- "Wattle Day" a 'Day-of-Dance' in conjunction with Victorian Folk Music Club
- Monthly dance workshops (See upcoming events)
- Annual Dance Composers Competition - judged at the National Folk Festival.
