News Items from July to Nov. 2016

It is with sadness, that we report the passing of life members, Marita Gellatly on 5/6/16, (whose husband Ken died in May last year) and Bette Davison 13/6/16. All three had contributed much to the TSDAV in the past, but had withdrawn in recent years due to failing health. We had acknowledged their work by making them honorary life members.

The Committee has been hard at work, and arrangements for our 3 main events for later this year are well in hand. (see attached flyers – Tea Dance, Wattle Day, Portarlington)

However, due to O/S holidays, and impending retirement(s) from the Committee,WE ARE IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL HELP to ensure the success of these functions.

Please let us know if you can help share the workload.

George and Norm have been busy preparing TSDAV applications for next year’s National Folk Festival, both for the Dance Composer’s Competition, and for a dance workshop.

Norm once again made the mid-winter trek to Bundanoon, for the annual ‘DanceFest’ where he presented Keith Wood with his engraved trophy for his winning dance “The Wide Brown Land”.

(we again danced all the entries at our “11th Hour” Dances for Dancers session in May)

It was good to see more Melbourne & Victorian faces there this year!

Norm also presented 2 well received dance workshops, one of lesser known Quadrilles (Speedy, & San Toys) the other of contemporary dances. We are including the Speedy Quadrille in the Old Time Tea Dance program. Come and learn it at our 11th Hour session in August.
